Roger I. Homrich, former NDA President and industry icon of LaSalle, MI passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 11, 2021. He was 68 years old.
He married the love of his life, Norma J. Simpson, on February 1, 1975 at Monroe Street Methodist Church. He then went on to join the demolition industry with his father, Ivan, and brother, Randall Homrich. He worked relentlessly and was proud to become the president of Homrich Wrecking, Inc. Over the next couple of decades, he built the company from a small family business to one of the largest demolition companies in North America. He also pioneered the concept of vertically integrating demolition services by harnessing the efficiencies of landfill ownership along with demolition, environmental cleanup, and trucking services to create a vertically integrated operation.
In 1993, he was elected president of the National Demolition Association (NDA) becoming the youngest to ever hold the position. His son, Scott Homrich, serves as the current President of NDA. They are the only father and son to both hold the position in the association’s history.
Under his leadership, NDA flourished. He helped in founding the NDA Charitable Foundation to promote the funding of additional educational opportunities as well as established the Lifetime Achievement Award, which he himself received in 2016 for his incredible accomplishments.
Roger leaves his memory to be cherished by his loving wife of 47 years, Norma, and their four children. He also leaves behind five siblings, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is honoring his memory by endowing a scholarship through the National Demolition Association. Donations can be made to Homrich, Inc. which will be consolidated and donated to NDA.
To our friend, you earned the right to say you left the world better than you found it.
