On March 22, 2021, former two-term Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was confirmed as U.S. Secretary of Labor in a 68-29 Senate vote. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) supported Walsh’s nomination as Secretary of Labor due in part to his practice of building a consensus among stakeholders through collaboration with constituencies, including the business community. Meanwhile, Walsh testified at his confirmation hearing that he intends to act quickly and collaboratively with stakeholders and other agencies to implement changes that not only advance workers’ rights but that are also pro-economy.
